Max the Dog Diplomat

I am Max, a miniature schnauzer. I lived from November 1999 to September 2008. I enriched the lives of many people with laughter and compassion and was happy to do so. As a dog, it came naturally.

Hijab on a Dog

Here I am being utilised as a toy again. The "play" here is seeing what I look like in hijab, or moderate dress for a female muslim of some parts of the muslim world. As a male I find this particularly humiliating amongst the many dress-up games I suffer.
The topic also came up by my friend here who, though she is torturing me with the head covering, has cooked me many a fresh meal and particularly poolkas or chapathis, Punjabi style, so I am "generous" shall we say with playing the role of doll. She brought up how in Islam, there is a prejudice against dogs as being "unclean" and that she has been trying to re-educate people so that they treat us better. However it is difficult, as no one knows, as in many religions, where all the rules and practices come from. Pointing to this practice, saying, or text often leads nowhere as someone always knows something to contradict an argument. There's always something to argue about. I wish people could just agree that animals have feelings, the capacity to suffer, and are not merely tools for their wants and needs. "Dominion" over the earth and its creatures can be practiced in a very different way than it is being practiced now. I encourage you to read, at least the introduction of a book Dominion.
